Statistics System
Strength: Determines your power in brute force, effecting the damage of attacks and non-magical abilities.
Vitality: A character's constitution, effecting their maximum health (HP) and natural defenses.
Dexterity: Effects your ability to use weapons with precision, especially bows and firearms, as well as determining your ability to dodge attacks.
Intelligence: Determines your skill in magic, including the effectiveness of your spells and your maximum mana (MP).
Racial Base Statistics
EACH RACE STARTS with certain basic statistics, which is a collection of sixty-four (64) points divided between the four stat types. Another four bonus points are added as well to express that particular races bonus traits.
For example, a humans have no bonuses, so the four points are divided evenly among each stat category.
Base Stats:
STR: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
VIT: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
INT: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
DEX: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
STR: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
VIT: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
INT: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
DEX: 16 [red]+ 1[/red]
Leveling Up
AT EVER LEVEL GAINED, a character receives ten (10) STAT POINTS to divide among the four categories however he wishes. He will also receive a single ABILITY POINT to use for learning a new ability or spell, also assuming he is the appropriate level to gain it. You may only learn new abilities or spells from a higher level character who knows the ability, or from a training guild or similar locations in a variety of different cities.
When you first begin to play the game (Level 1) you receive ten stat points and an ability point to divide as you please, just as though you had gained a level.
Traits that have bonus stats (ie: STR [red]+1[/red]) automatically go up that amount every level.
Determining the Effect of Stats
THE EFFECT OF STATS ARE RELATIVE, meaning someone with higher stats will generally be able to overpower someone with comparatively lower stats. Only a Game Master is able to determine the absolute outcome of an attack, spell, dodge, etc.
Determining your health points (HP) and mana points (MP) is effected by your level of Vitality and Intelligence, respectively. This means the higher your Vitality, the higher your HP, and the same for Intelligence and MP. While these levels of HP and MP are not crunched out to actual numbers, one should be able to roughly determine how much health and mana they have. To avoid complex number crunching, roleplaying and a certain sense of common sense realism is key.
When using non-magic abilities, it takes HP*. When using magical spells, it takes MP. How much is determined by how powerful the ability/spell is.
*Note: You cannot die from doing non-magical abilities, but when your health is low you will not have the physical energy left to do such abilities and it is more likely you could be killed by an enemy.
