History:
Vampires, or humans infected with porphyric hemophilia, are originally thought to be the spawn of the god Pelagiun, who had infected a single man and, in return, started the massive Vampire Plague of the Second Era. Damaged by sunlight (and because of this, light and fire magic), they are rarely seen outside during they day. When they do, they make sure to cover their flesh from sunlight should they ever venture the world after dawn.
Typically hated by human populations, Vampires are only accepted in their own vampiric convents or among other non-human areas. This does not often occur, however, since vampires require a small sum of human blood, regularly. While blood of other creatures can still be used, it does not work as well as that of fellow humans. Despite common thought, vampires do not necessarily have to kill the target they feed on, nor is vampirism always spread to that person.
Despite all of the downsides to their transformations, they also have obvious benefits. Among these include protection from normal, non-magical weapons, the ability to recover health by draining opponents, bonuses when using dark magics. Also, they are able to transfigure into a large bat for a time, in order to flee a battle of reach vantage points others may not necessarily be able to reach. In this form, they also have some basic attack abilities. Vampires can also prove very persuasive, using subtle magical energies to sway the opinions of others, or drain energy.
